Post Poor transfert speed between 2 USB 3.0 external HDD
Hello,

While I'm with Win7, I can sync my 2 Iomega eGo 1TB USB 3.0 at 80/90MBps

In Linux (Archlinux), Speed is only 20/22MBps

I use rsync.

I'd like to get the same speed, please tell me how to proceed.

Regards,

3rik

A file system driver cannot have a throughput similar to an in-kernel one.

You can try using the mount option "big_writes", this will reduce the number of context switches, provided the writing application supports big buffers (which rsync does).

Hi Jean Pierre,

Effectively with this option its 2x 3x faster :)

Not 90MBps, but it's much better.

I thank you very much !

Hmm, why isn't big_writes the default?
And why it isn't documented both in the integrated help text and the man-file? ;)

Hi,

Because its benefits depend on how you use ntfs-3g.

Maybe because you are using an old version.
