Post latest ntfs-3g unable to see 4TB usb drive with MBR
I am using FreeBSD 9.0 with nfts-3g installed using ports. Plug in a 4TB usb drive that are using MBR for partition table and it sees the partition table as GPT. So, it doesn't see the ntfs partition. But the Mac OSX version ntfs-3g see the drive properly and can mount the drive. What do I need to update in FreeBSD to be able to mount the drive?

Partitioning is outside ntfs-3g scope. MacOSX can deal with a dual partitioning model, I do not know whether FreeBSD also can.

Your 4TB drive probably has 4K sectors. If so, you need at least ntfs-3g 2012.1.15. What is your current ntfs-3g version ?

Yes, I am using ntfs-3g 2012.1.15. Fedora Core 18 also see properly. I don't know what's the differences between Freebsd, Linux, and Mac OSX version. You are correct that the drive is 4k sector, it's HDS724040ALE640. I am using a usb bridge board that makes it look like 512k sector drive using MBR. The Freebsd version still see it as a GPT partition instead of MBR.

This is unrelated to ntfs-3g, the more as you can access the partition from Fedora.
