I replaced a Toshiba 1TB external disc with a new one. The old one quit working. I installed it on my Mac OX 10.9.4 and it shows up in my Finder. I went to Time Machine and selected it as my backup disc. When I go to Time machine it says that it cannot connect to current time machine disc. When it tries to backup I get and error message saying the backup failed. The details tell me it is not formatted for "extended" something or other. I checked on the setting for it and "extended attributes " is checked. Is there some kind of formatting I need to do? If so how do I do it?
