ntfs-3g ruined my drive, tried gpart to save dataz
had a ntfs drive that got mounted in feisty, then gutsy with ntfs-3g, read only at that time. worked fine until one day it was lost and i tried to remount it, then i got the error:
NTFS signature lost/broken/not found
tried to use DD to copy the entire drive to another disk and then GPART to try to scan it, but the support for NTFS is kinda, not so very good. gpart only discovers 109 megs of partition, when the disk and stuff on it sums up to 80g..
How can i fix this? I need my dataz :/

See http://ntfs-3g.org/support.html#mbr
Try TestDisk. GPart is obsolete and unmaintained for quite many years.

argh, ok. was trying to avoid using testdisk because the setup looks pretty difficult, gpart was easy.
will try that and or ntfsrecovery , if those don't work, i've to deliver it to a company that can fix it for $$ :/
