Post Centos 6 ntfs-3g update on 16 Nov - ntfs no longer mounting
Hi;
I got the latest update of ntfs-3g running under Centos 6.6 this morning, and since then I can no longer mount my NTFS external hard drive.

20:36:11>rpm -qa | grep ntfs

Post Re: Centos 6 ntfs-3g update on 16 Nov - ntfs no longer mounting
Hi,

Code:
Linux server1 2.6.32-504.1.3.el6.x86_64
....
unique: 1, opcode: INIT (26), nodeid: 0, insize: 56
INIT: 7.14
flags=0x0000f07b
max_readahead=0x00020000
INIT: 7.8

This is a known issue which occurs only with ntfs-3g-2014.2.15AR.2 running on some old kernels, though not on recent ones or very old ones : when protocol 7.18 is not available (only 7.14 in your situation), protocol 7.8 is negociated as a fall back. Unfortunately support for protocol 7.8 has been dropped from some kernels (and made available again in recent ones.)

Please upgrade to ntfs-3g-2014.2.15AR.3 (see http://www.tuxera.com/community/ntfs-3g-advanced/)

Regards

Jean-Pierre

jpa , your answer was certainly useful for packagers, but for the common user, trying to load the new release (AR3) will try to upgrade libc which is not at all recommanded if you want to keep a centos6 box working... You'd beter install centos7 if you want to do that.
Fortunately, standard repositories (for me, Centos6, elrepo, epel, nux-dextop) do not provide the new libc for centos6

EPEL packagers now provide a new version in their "testing" repository, as explained in
https://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic ... 14&t=49675
For me it solved the problem (without unwanted upgrades...) Thank you all !
