Post ntfsresize shrinking interrupted by battery exhaustion
I was running ntfsresize as part of gparted (and it was running ntfsresize --force --force -s 248044847104 /dev/sdb1 in turn) and shrinking 1.8T ntfs partition on my external USB drive to 200GB. It had 175 GB of data.

Right at the end when it was 'relocating the extents' the laptop battery died.

Now, when I check again, with --info I get

Code:
sudo ntfsresize --info --force /dev/sdc1
ntfsresize v2016.2.22 (libntfs-3g)
$MFTMirr does not match $MFT (record 1).
ERROR(5): Opening '/dev/sdc1' as NTFS failed: Input/output error
NTFS is inconsistent. Run chkdsk /f on Windows then reboot it TWICE!
The usage of the /f parameter is very IMPORTANT! No modification was
and will be made to NTFS by this software until it gets repaired.

What is my recourse here. Will running chkdsk followed by resize help.

Thank you.

Hi,

ntfsresize normally resizes one file (or directory) at a time, so usually a single file is damaged if a crash occurs... but there are many exceptions.

That is what I would do (with fingers crossed). Good luck !
