Post Does ntfs-3g support atomic renames?
This seems to be needed for certain file synchronization programs such as aerofs.

Hi,

ntfs-3g is single threaded and fuse serializes the requests. As a consequence, the intermediate states cannot be seen while processing another request. Apart from pathological cases (hardware failures, etc.) either a rename is seen as fully done or not done at all.
