Post system.ntfs_dos_name
When restoring win7 NTFS partition, I have a problem exactly the same as
http://www.fsarchiver.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1195

Please see how I manually get/set the extended attribute on the problem file.

robert@robert-desktop:/$ sudo ntfs-3g /dev/sda7 /mnt

robert@robert-desktop:/$ cd /mnt

robert@robert-desktop:/mnt$ getfattr -n system.ntfs_dos_name Windows/winsxs/x86_scrawpdo.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_5b3079b6b8cae27b/SCRAWPDO.inf# file: Windows/winsxs/x86_scrawpdo.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_5b3079b6b8cae27b/SCRAWPDO.inf
system.ntfs_dos_name="SCRAWPDO.INF"

Could you help debug the problem by saving and restoring a win7 partition ?

I use ntfs-3g 2011.4.12 and fsarchiver 0.6.10.
(ntfs-3g 2010.8.8 has the problem, too.)

Hi,

Code:
robert@robert-desktop:/mnt$ setfattr -v "SCRAWPDO.INF" -n system.ntfs_dos_name Windows/winsxs/x86_scrawpdo.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_5b3079b6b8cae27b/SCRAWPDO.inf
setfattr: Windows/winsxs/x86_scrawpdo.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_5b3079b6b8cae27b/SCRAWPDO.inf: Input/output error

Can you post the output of ntfsinfo for this file after the error has occurred. You have to unmount the file system and type (if I am not mistaken) :
Code:
sudo ntfsinfo -vF Windows/winsxs/x86_scrawpdo.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_5b3079b6b8cae27b/SCRAWPDO.inf /dev/sda7

Also, what is the explanation for the "Input/output error" in the system log ? (the location of the system log depends on the distribution, for instance /var/log/messages).

Regards

Jean-Pierre

I use Ubuntu 14.04 and fsarchiver/qt4-fsarchiver.
If I backed win7 or win8-partitions I get the same errormessages.
I download ntfs-3g_ntfsprogs-20142,15.tgz from Tuxera.
I removed in dir.c line 2325 in the function
Code:
static int get_dos_name(ntfs_inode *ni, u64 dnum, ntfschar *dosname)

this code:
Quote:
outsize = -1;

After compilation
Code:
./configure
make
sudo make install

fsarchiver works without problems.
I can backed win7 und win8 partitions without error

The code
Quote:
outsize = -1;

is this a mistake in ntfs-3g?

Regards
