Post Kernel Panic on ejecting NTFS volume mounted with ntfs-3g
Hi
I have a NTFS volume which is mounted through ntfs-3g with read/write permission.
The platform which is being used is a Linux based Set-Top box supporting USB Drives.
The problem I encounter is, whenever a video from the mounted USB volume is accessed, file is closed and the USB is immediately ejected then the system crashes with a Kernel Panic

System Configuration:
OS : MIPS Linux
Kernel: 2.6.22.19-29
ntfs-3g version: ntfs-3g 2009.4.4 integrated FUSE 27 (compiled with uclibc, [gcc version 4.3.2])

Is there any workaround to avoid this problem or any way to flush the NTFS volume before unmounting it.

Thanks
Ganesh

Post Re: Kernel Panic on ejecting NTFS volume mounted with ntfs-3g
Hi,

NTFS-3G is a user space driver however the crash is in the kernel which means you should contact your kernel provider with this bug.

Regarding fail-safe device removal, NTFS-3G gives no guarantee for consistency on embedded, only Tuxera NTFS.

Sincerely, Szaka
